Research
As a PhD Candidate under the supervision of Distinguished Professor Jacques Lezra, my research focuses on the intersection between aesthetics and political philosophy, specifically in the theatre and fascism. I use the poetic "caesura" - derived from the Latin verb, caedere [to cut] - to ask: how might we interrupt the cyclical, mythic, homogeneous thought-producing apparatuses typical of fascist governments? The caesura, which Holderlin describes as a "counter-rhythmic rupture," is Benjamin's "dialectic image," where "thinking suddenly comes to a stop in a constellation saturation with tensions." This "stop" is precisely the location where "revolutionary change" can erupt.
